Reflexology

Reflexology massage  £30

Reflexology

By working on the specific areas of the feet a response is elicited in the organs and glands connected to these areas. This stimulation causes physiological changes to occur in the corresponding organs and systems of the body. In this way reflexology can directly affect the functioning of all the body’s systems, helping them to function at their optimum level. Circulation of lymph and blood is improved, immune functioning is enhanced, assimilation of nutrients is increased, and elimination of toxins are enhanced. Reflexology shifts the body from functioning in the sympathetic nervous system modality (i.e. flight or fight response to stress) to the parasympathetic system modality (i.e. rest and repair, stress-free). So it is an extremely relaxing treatment, if you don’t fall into that lovely place between sleep and awake you will at the very least feel completely blissed out.
Furthermore reflexology has been known to help both acute and chronic conditions including:
Managing stress
Poor sleep
Hormonal imbalances
Headaches and migraines
Infertility
Digestive disorders
Pain management

Sports massage on leg

Remedial / deep tissue  £40 / from £35

Remedial/sports massage

Remedial massage is one of the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness.Remedial massage is based on the fact that soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) respond to touch. Most pain is myofascial (soft tissue) in origin. Trigger points (sensitive points in muscles, which radiate or refer pain to various parts of the body) can mimic many conditions. Muscles not only move our joints, they stabilise them, and they provide armour for the internal organs, minor problems with these functions cause more pain than most people realise.

Treatment employs massage techniques designed to treat both deep and superficial tissues, not dissimilar to those used in sports massage. The remedial massage therapist uses skilled manipulation combined with in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology to bring about pain relief, correcting and normalising the body’s muscles and soft tissues.

Hot Stones Massage

Hot / cold stone therapy part body £35  full body £45

Hot stone massage combines the benefits of Hydrotherapy and 'Thermalism' or 'Thermotherapy' (the use of heat applications) with massage strokes, using stones to create a deep, relaxing and healing treatment.

As the skin warms from the use of the heated stones this allows the skin to absorb moisturizing and therapeutic oils, while at the same time preparing the musculature of the body so the therapist can work into the deeper muscle layers.

It is generally accepted that one stroke of a heated basalt stone is equivalent to
5 strokes of the therapists hand.

Benefits of thermotherapy include:
Increased local circulation
Improved blood flow to surrounding tissues
Greater ability to transport toxins and waste products from the area.
Increase in heart rate
Increase in metabolism
Increase in the release of toxins
Decrease in blood pressure, stress, fatigue, and tension
Diaphoresis (sweating)
Sedative effects
Boost to the immune system
Decrease in pain perception (analgesia)
Decrease in muscle spasm
Decrease in muscle stiffness

Cold therapy, also known as cryotherapy, works on the principle of heat exchange. This occurs when a cooler object is placed in direct contact with an object of warmer temperature; the cooler object will absorb the heat of the warmer object in an attempt to achieve balance.

What are the benefits of cold stones?
Dispersal of tissue congestion
Alleviation of swelling
Decreased muscle spasms
Stimulation of the autonomic nervous system
Increased tissue metabolism
Its Invigoration / energizing effect
Orbital decongestion - removal of puffiness or discoloration

Reiki Treatment

Indian head massage £30

The massage usually begins with the upper back, where a combination of deep massage and pressure points help to relax the muscles and to loosen and melt knots. Moving through the shoulders and upper arms further releases the common spots for holding stress and tension, and then working deeply into the neck where tension accumulates relieves headaches and improves cerebral spinal fluid circulation. Moving up the neck and to the scalp, techniques are used that stimulate, relax and revive the whole of the head, increasing circulation and promoting healthy hair. Finally the treatment may include a gentle face massage with techniques that help circulation, skin tone, and sinus and headache problems. This therapy can be performed without oils with the client sitting and fully clothed, so it is ideally suited to the workplace or situations where it may not be appropriate to give a full-body hour long massage.
Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.
